What stays on your device
Mystica stores your chosen birth profile, coordinates, timezone, reading history, journal, streak and notice preferences locally in your browser. No account is required. Your personal reading is generated on your device, not uploaded to Mystica.
The location search
The place you type is sent to Mystica’s location endpoint to search a bundled city dataset. Mystica does not send that query to a third-party geocoding API or persist it in an application database. After you choose a result, the city, country, coordinates and timezone are saved locally.
Location data is from GeoNames, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. It represents cities and towns, not exact birth addresses. If your village is absent, you may explicitly choose a nearby town; this is an approximation.
Browsing and external resources
Normal hosting logs may contain request metadata. When enabled for the published site, Replit-hosted analytics measures visits to broad page categories and counts feature use: generated readings, My Mystica visits, revealed Tarot cards, journal saves and contextual-link clicks. The app blocks the tracker's automatic raw-URL collection and sends sanitized page categories instead. Queries, fragments, reference dates and referrers are not included in these app analytics payloads.
Analytics events do not include your name, birth details, location, chart positions, scores, search terms, journal text or synchronicity text. There is no account identifier or session replay. The app respects browser Do Not Track and an existing Umami tracking exclusion. This is usage measurement, not a claim that hosting requests are invisible or fully anonymous. If browser storage cannot protect analytics, analytics connections are blocked while Mystica’s location search remains allowed.
Public birthday-reference URLs contain their reference date; they are separate from your saved profile. Compatibility invitations deliberately contain the name and birth date you choose to share, and search URLs can contain your query; handle those links as private. These values are excluded from app analytics, but a shared URL or an initial request can still be visible to its recipient and normal hosting infrastructure. Fonts and links to reference publishers may connect your browser to those providers, whose own privacy policies apply.
What we do not require
We do not require your name, email, password, payment or an external astrology account. We do not sell your saved profile or journal. Third-party advertising involves separate browser and device data described below.
Sharing is your choice
Your browser may open its share sheet or download a PNG. Mystica does not upload your generated card.
Advertising
The published website uses Monetag Multitag. Its formats can include sponsored tabs or popunders, In-Page Push banners, vignette overlays and browser notification invitations. Browser notifications require a separate permission from your browser; accepting website advertising does not grant that permission. The development preview does not load advertising.
Monetag and its advertising partners may collect IP addresses, browser/device information, page and referral information and ad interactions, and may use cookies or local storage to serve, personalize and measure ads. We do not put your saved birth profile, chart positions, journal or private text into the ad tag configuration. Third-party advertising scripts run in your browser and have their own data practices; Mystica’s sanitized analytics protections do not make those separate services anonymous. Read Monetag’s privacy policy and cookies policy.
To apply a regional advertising safeguard, your browser requests a coarse network country from Cloudflare. Cloudflare receives the connection’s IP address, but Mystica does not send your profile, page URL, cookies or referrer with this request, retain the returned IP information or save a location history. EU/EEA, UK and Swiss visitors are asked before the ad tag loads. If the country lookup fails, prior consent is required rather than guessing. Other visitors receive ads automatically unless they turn them off. Additional local legal requirements may apply.
Use Ad preferences in the footer to decline advertising or change your choice. The choice is saved on this browser for up to 180 days. Mystica respects Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track by not enabling its ad tag. Turning ads off reloads the page to remove running ad scripts and removes Monetag’s notification subscription for this site where accessible; previously collected data is governed by the providers’ policies. You can also revoke browser notification permission in your browser settings.
The page ad tag is not enabled on URLs containing query strings or fragments, or where a private referral URL could be exposed. Navigating to such a link from an ad-enabled page starts a clean page instead of leaving third-party page scripts running across that navigation. Initial hosting requests may still contain that URL. Public indexed reading-reference articles may display ads; their reference date is part of the public page URL, not your saved birth profile.
When advertising is enabled, Monetag may own the site’s root service worker and Mystica does not also register its offline worker at that scope. Offline page caching is restored when advertising is declined or awaiting required consent. Saved profiles, journals and readings in local browser storage are not deleted by this worker change.
Your controls
Clear reading history from History, or clear site data in your browser to remove the profile, journal and saved readings. Clearing site data is permanent on that browser; there is no account backup.
