How astrologers compare two signs, what Mystica’s pair score is and is not, and better questions than “are we a match?”.

Difference is information
Traditional compatibility looks at how two signs relate by element and mode. Fire and air are often described as stimulating, earth and water as nurturing. Same-element pairs are described as familiar, and opposite signs as magnetic and tense. These are patterns in a symbolic language, not outcomes.
What the pair score is
Mystica’s Pair page combines the two Sun signs and some number layers into a score and several short notes. It is deterministic: the same two inputs give the same result. It is meant to start a conversation between two people, not to rate a relationship.
What it cannot see
Compatibility between real people depends on communication, values, timing, shared history and effort. None of that is in a birth date. A high score does not protect a relationship and a low score does not doom one.
Better questions
Use the result as a prompt.
- Where do we move at different speeds?
- What does each of us need that the other finds unfamiliar?
- What is one thing we could try this week that suits both styles?
- What would I want to say if the score did not exist?
Try this
Send the pair result to the other person and ask which line they would edit. Then talk about the edit instead of the score.
